This was our second production of
Lehar’s celebrated operetta, the previous production having been staged in
1970 to commemorate the Society’s twenty-fifth anniversary. It was felt
that it would be an appropriate choice for our sixtieth anniversary, not
least because 2005 also marked the centenary of the premiere of
The Merry Widow in Vienna.
Our production was updated to the
present day (2005). At the opening of the show, the small Eastern European
country of Pontevedro is celebrating its recent admission to the European
Union. CLICK
