THE LAFONE YEARS

THE MOVE TO FELTHAM ASSEMBLY HALL

The early days of Hatton Operatic Society are very well documented in the Society’s scrapbooks which contain a wealth of material such as programmes, press reports and production photographs. Most interesting of all are the contributions from the late Doris Seaman who was Editor of the Scrapbooks (and also of the Society’s magazine HOPSAC) for many years. Her accounts of the trials and tribulations of the early productions give a delightful insight into the simple pleasures of life in the immediate post-war years.

Since some of this material is now becoming rather fragile, I thought that I should try to preserve as much of it as possible in electronic form. These pages contain a selection of text items from the scrapbooks - I hope to add scanned images of some of the early production photographs as a second stage in this project.
